Who runs it
Chaturbate is one of the best-known live cam sites there is. It’s run by Multi Media LLC, a company based in California, and it has been going for well over a decade. Watching is free; the money comes from viewers buying tokens.
The performers
Every performer who earns on Chaturbate has verified their identity with a live selfie and a government photo ID. There’s zero tolerance for minors and for anything that isn’t fully consensual, and every room has a report button.
Proving you’re 18
In some countries and US states, the law makes adult sites check every visitor’s age. There, Chaturbate asks you to verify before you watch, with a quick face scan or an ID check run by a third-party age-check service. Everywhere else, you confirm you’re an adult and walk in.
Your account
- A unique password and two-factor login. Chaturbate encourages every member to turn two-factor on. A password you use nowhere else means a leak somewhere else can’t open this door.
- A username with no link to you. Not your name, not a handle you use anywhere else.
- Email is optional. If you add one, make it a separate address just for adult sites.
Your money
- Buy tokens only at Chaturbate’s own checkout. “Cheap tokens” sold anywhere else are a scam.
- Check how the charge will appear on your statement before you buy. Chaturbate’s billing support page explains it.
- Tips are final. Unspent tokens are different: under Chaturbate’s terms, you can ask support to withdraw unused funds, minus payment processing costs.
What tokens cost, and the cheapest way to buy.
What others can see
Watch without logging in and you’re one of the viewers, nothing more. Log in, and your username shows up when you chat or tip, unless you tip anonymously.
Chaturbate treats everything typed on the site as public, private messages included. So nothing personal goes in chat: no real name, city, workplace or photos.
The scams to ignore
- “Free token” generators. They don’t exist. They’re after your login or your card.
- Anyone asking for payment outside the site. Performers aren’t allowed to. Whoever asks is breaking the rules, or isn’t who they say they are.
- “Support” messages asking for your password. Real support never needs it.
- Apps claiming to be Chaturbate, from anywhere but your phone’s official app store.
- Recorded shows on other sites. They’re copied without the performer’s consent, and you have no idea who runs those sites.
Between us. Most trouble starts away from the site: a reused password, a real name in chat, a link from a stranger. Skip those three and you’ve done most of the work.
